Karla Legg

I’m the only Holistic Sleep Coach in New Zealand!

My passion is empowering mothers and building confidence in parenting, in a world of information overload and unrealistic expectations society places on baby & parenting behaviour. Together with my background in Wellchild Nursing, 25+yrs as a Registered Nurse & a mother of 2, I offer families a solid base of years of experience, current knowledge & a relatable view in navigating this time in their lives.

When I work with Whanau (Maori word for Family), I take a holistic, cultural & integrated approach to sleep. I do this by promoting attachment & responsive parenting, with a focus on high quality education in biology of infant sleep, normalising baby behaviour, explaining the importance of cognitive & developmental cued care, supporting parents in the understanding infant communication & breastfeeding support.

I have 2 children of my own who had their own sleep & feeding struggles, in a time when a holistic & responsive approach to early parenting was not available to me. I struggled with my own birth trauma, disrupted breastfeeding journey, limited support networks & feelings of constant self doubt in my abilities to mother “in the right way”. So in the past few years I have made it my business to create a version of myself that I would have wanted to meet when I was a 1st time mother. I have educated myself in the science of infant sleep, to offer the families I meet, up to date, accurate, peer reviewed research in the science of infant sleep, so families can make the right decisions for their baby’s sleep needs.

I offer home visits within 50km radius of Christchurch for babies/children from birth-6yrs, as well as zoom calls & digital support options. I also run 5wk Baby Massage Courses, on a Friday in Christchurch and also offer private courses within your home.
